Five year Indian Visa Application process

Foreign nationals interested in visiting India for viewing or enjoyment, casual trips to see friends and relatives, or a short-term Yoga program can apply for a five-year India e-Tourist Visa. Since September 2019, the Indian Immigration Authority has changed its e-Tourist Visa regulations. To help Prime Minister Narendra Modi achieve his goal of doubling the number of local and international visitors visiting India in five years, Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel announced a slew of reforms to the Indian Online Visa system. The minister emphasized that we must work collectively to alter the impression of international visitors visiting India.

Type of e-Tourist Visa

The following kinds of e-Tourist Visa are currently available:

  • 30-day e-Tourist Visa: A 30-day double-entry visa is valid from the date of arrival in India.
  • One year (or 365 days) e-Tourist Visa: Multiple entry visa valid for 365 days from the date of e-Visa issuance.
  • E-Tourist Visa for 5 Years (or 60 Months): This multi-entry visa is valid for five years from the date of issuance.

All of the visas listed above are not extendable or convertible. If you applied for and paid for a one-year tourist visa, you will not be able to convert or upgrade to a five-year visa.

Indian Tourist Visa Requirements

The Indian Tourist Visa, as handy as it is, comes with a set of requirements that must be met to receive it. It is only available to tourists who plan to stay in the nation for no more than 180 days at a time, i.e., you must return or continue your journey out of the country within 180 days of entering the country on the Tourist e-Visa. A commercial journey to India is likewise not permitted on the India Tourist Visa; only non-commercial travel is permitted. You are qualified to apply for an India Tourist Visa if you fulfill these requirements and the e-Visa eligibility requirements in general.

As previously stated, the Indian Tourist Visa is intended for international visitors who wish to visit the country as tourists to explore all of the country’s major tourist attractions and have a lovely holiday there, or for those who like to visit their loved ones who live there. However, overseas tourists can utilize an India Tourist Visa to attend a short-term Yoga program, enroll in a course that lasts no more than six months and does not result in a degree or diploma, or participate in volunteer work that lasts no longer than one month. You can only apply for a Tourist Visa in India if you meet these criteria.

All types of e-Visas require India visa documents.

To begin, you must have the following papers to begin the Indian Visa application process:

  • An electronic or scanned copy of the visitor’s passport’s first (biographical) page, which must be the standard Passport and must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in India; otherwise, your passport will need to be renewed.
  • A current passport-style color photo (just of the face, and it can be taken with a phone), a functioning email account, and a debit or credit card to pay the application expenses. More information on the picture criteria for Indian e-Visas may be found here.
  • A ticket out of the nation, either return or forward.
